Proper aftercare is 70 percent of the final result. Incorrect care will affect the quality of your tattoo. Please follow all instructions carefully.
After the session, the tattoo is treated with antiseptic and sealed with a healing film.
The film must be worn for 5 days, not counting the day of the session.
While the film (second skin) is on:
- Do not allow sweating under the film. Avoid sports, saunas, sun exposure, bathhouses, and long hot baths.
- Avoid alcohol for 5 days. Alcohol increases lymph secretion and may cause pigment loss.
- You may take a light shower. Water should not be hot, and direct water contact with the film should be avoided.
- Do not damage the film. Do not pierce or tightly wrap it. The skin must breathe.
Lymph fluid may collect under the film during the first 2 to 3 days. This is normal.
If strong discomfort appears, you may carefully lift the edges of the film without touching the tattoo. If you have any questions please contact me.
Film removal, day 5:
Soften the film under a hot shower, gently lift an edge, stretch the film, and slowly remove it in the opposite direction from the tattoo (stretch it like a gum)
After film removal:
- Wash the tattoo with soap and water. Do not rub. Remove glue residue and dried lymph if possible.
- Check for small oozing areas. Clean them from lymph and prevent crust formation until healed.
- If you have any small wet wounds treat it with Chlorhexidine or Octenisept antiseptic
- Apply a very thin layer of the healing ointment provided. (tattoo butter or tattoo cream)
Repeat washing and ointment application 4 times a day for the first 3 days.
Ongoing care:
Moisturize the tattoo 1 to 2 times daily for one month using the same or any hypoallergenic cream. Do not allow the tattoo to dry or peel.
If the tattoo feels uneven after one month, continue moisturizing until the skin becomes smooth. This may take from one to six months. Lack of care may cause permanent scarring.
During healing and after:
- Do not rub or scratch the tattoo.
- Do not pick peeling skin, let it shed by it self. Let it fall off naturally.
- Avoid synthetic clothing to avoid irritations.
- Limit physical activity for at least 10 days.
- Always moisturize the tattoo.
- Avoid direct sun exposure throughout life. Sun causes allergic reactions and pigment fading (your tattoo may become unpresentable brownish-green and loose all the contrasts).
- Use sunscreen with SPF 70 or higher and UV protective clothing when exposed to the sun.
